Meet the Surgeon
A specialist in both plastic and reconstructive surgery,
Dr. James Matas has a diverse background ranging from
hospital chief of staff to Medical Director of his own
private practice, the Advanced Centre for Plastic Surgery.
Graduating from the University of Notre Dame with his

his true calling was to be a physician. He received
his medical degree from the University of Miami Medical
School, completed his residency training in general
surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center
and continued with plastic surgery training at Indiana
University Medical Center. Before beginning private
practice as a plastic surgeon, he performed his plastic
surgery fellowship in his hometown of Miami, Florida
under the direction of Drs. Baker and Gordon, world-recognized
pioneers in plastic surgery.
Dr. Matas is Board Certified by the American Board
of Plastic Surgery, and is a member of the distinctive
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
He believes that successful plastic surgery begins with
solid communication between the patient, staff and physician.
He is respected for his ability to listen to the individual
needs of each patient and to provide clear and comprehensive
information so they make an informed decision concerning
plastic surgery.
With well over 20 years experience as a plastic surgeon,
he actively contributes to the leadership of both the
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the
Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons. This affords him
the chance to contribute to his specialty in a positive
way, ensuring a strong future for plastic surgery.
